LinkedIn Outbound Agent: Best Practices

Overview

This guide walks through your LinkedIn Outbound Agent after onboarding—covering dashboard insights, lead management, and key controls to help you stay informed and in control.

Dashboard Overview

Your main dashboard provides a quick snapshot of performance:

  • Total leads sourced and messaged
  • Connection requests sent & accepted
  • Messages sent (invites, follow-ups, InMails)
  • Positive responses
  • Time saved

You can also:

  • Ask questions in natural language
  • Use preloaded prompts to quickly analyze performance

Outbound Agent Tab (Detailed View)

This section gives a deeper look into activity:

  • Leads Added – Total new prospects
  • In Progress – Leads currently in outreach
  • Connections Sent/Accepted – LinkedIn invite activity
  • Messages Sent – All outreach combined
  • Positive Responses – Replies with interest

You can adjust the timeframe (weekly, monthly, yearly) as needed.

Lead Management

Viewing Leads

  • Leads refresh automatically every 2–4 days
  • Click into any lead to see:
    • Their profile
    • Why they were selected
    • Their LinkedIn page

Training the Agent

For each lead, you can:

  • Mark Good Fit → Get more leads like this
  • Mark Not a Fit → Stops outreach and avoids similar leads

Agent Plan (Per Lead)

Each lead has a built-in outreach sequence:

  • Profile view
  • Post engagement (likes)
  • Connection request or message
  • Follow-ups

If a lead responds at any point:

  • The agent automatically stops outreach
  • You’re notified to take over the conversation

Lead Statuses

  • In Progress → Outreach is ongoing
  • Connection Accepted → Still in sequence, no reply yet
  • Replied → Lead responded, agent stops

You always have visibility into what step each lead is in.

Filters & Pipeline Visibility

Use filters to quickly find:

  • Positive responses
  • Accepted connections
  • Active conversations

This helps you prioritize follow-ups and opportunities.

Blacklist Controls

You can exclude:

  • Specific LinkedIn profiles
  • Companies
  • Entire industries

Useful for removing competitors or irrelevant audiences.

Preferences (Updating Your Agent)

Inside the Preferences tab:

Option 1: Request Changes

  • Rebuild your targeting and strategy
  • Update industries, roles, company size, territory
  • Review and approve new leads + strategy

Option 2: Direct Edit

  • Edit fields manually
  • Changes apply to future lead sourcing immediately

Settings & Automation Controls

Auto-Reply (Optional)

  • Automatically respond to first messages
  • Add instructions (e.g., include booking link)

Notifications

  • Enable alerts for new responses
  • Stay on top of active conversations

Additional Controls

  • Exclude existing LinkedIn connections
  • Adjust number of follow-ups (increase or reduce sequence length)

Best Practices

  • Regularly review and train leads (Good Fit / Not a Fit)
  • Monitor positive responses and respond quickly
  • Adjust targeting as your strategy evolves
  • Keep messaging aligned with your tone and goals

Summary

Your Outbound Agent runs automatically, but you stay in control by:

  • Monitoring performance in the dashboard
  • Training lead quality
  • Adjusting targeting and messaging
  • Managing conversations when replies come in
