LinkedIn Outbound Agent: Targeting Update Guide

Overview

This guide shows how to update your targeting after your LinkedIn Outbound Agent has already been running. The process is quick and helps improve lead quality over time.


Option 1: Request Changes

Step 1: Go to Preferences

  • Open the Preferences tab
  • Find your plan and click Request Changes


Step 2: Begin Updates

  • Click Continue
  • Select your goal (Generate Local Sales)
  • Click Next


Step 3: Adjust Targeting

Update any of the following:

  • Industries – Add/remove (e.g., Construction, Commercial Real Estate)
  • Company Size – Target specific ranges
  • Job Titles – Refine roles (e.g., CEO, CFO)
  • Location (Optional) – Set or leave blank


Step 4: Exclusions (Optional)

  • Add industries or companies to avoid
  • Skip if not needed


Step 5: Buying Triggers (Optional but Helpful)

  • Select triggers like hiring, expansion, or rebranding
  • Improves AI accuracy


Step 6: Review Strategy

  • A new outbound strategy is generated
  • Review and edit if needed


Step 7: Validate Leads

  • Review each suggested lead
  • Mark as Good Fit or Not a Fit
All leads must be reviewedAim for a 100% match rate

This step directly improves future lead quality.


Step 8: Approve Messaging

  • Review generated outreach
  • Provide feedback in plain language

Examples:

  • Remove em dashes
  • Shorten messages
  • Make tone more warm

The AI will regenerate accordingly.


Step 9: Go Live

  • Updated targeting and messaging are applied
  • New leads will reflect your changes


Option 2: Direct Edit (Quick Updates)

If you don’t see “Request Changes”:

Step 1: Click Edit

  • Update fields directly

Step 2: Use Natural Language

Examples:

  • “Add CFO and Head of Finance roles”
  • “Target companies with 50–200 employees”

Step 3: Save

  • Changes apply instantly (no full regeneration)


Best Practices

  • Be specific with targeting
  • Take the lead validation step seriously
  • Refine messaging to match your voice
  • Revisit targeting regularly
