How To Set Up Auto Reply

Configure your LinkedIn Outbound Agent to automatically respond to the first reply from a lead if their message is positive or neutral, streamlining LinkedIn outreach and increasing engagement.

How To Enable Auto Reply

  • From your dashboard, click Outbound under Agents from the sidebar menu.

  • Select Preferences.

  • Under the Settings tab → toggle on Auto Reply.

Define Your Goal

Decide what you want the auto reply to accomplish, whether that's booking a meeting, sharing company information, sending a resource, or another objective. If you have multiple goals, be sure to include each one in your instructions. To appropriately trigger replies, be sure to clearly outline the purpose.

Add Your Links

If you want the agent to include links (e.g., a booking page), add them as key-value pairs:

  • Use lowercase with underscores for keys (e.g., booking_link, company_info_link).

  • Reference each link in your message templates using double curly brackets, like this: {{booking_link}}.

Write Your Message

Keep it short and natural. A good auto reply:

  • Gets to the point quickly

  • Includes any relevant links using the format above

  • Proactively addresses common questions (e.g., what your product does)

Example: "Thanks for reaching out! Happy to tell you more. Here's a link to book a quick call: {{booking_link}}"

Limit Unnecessary Replies

Avoid triggering auto-replies on empty or low-intent messages like "okay," "thanks," or similar. Set your instructions to skip these and only respond to meaningful engagement.

Set Follow-Up Timing

Use the Send After dropdown to control how soon the agent follows up with leads after their reply.

Quick Tips

  • Auto replies can continue the conversation beyond the first message, not just the initial response. Keeping the exchange going without requiring manual intervention.

  • Every link must have both a Key and a Value to work correctly.

  • Generalized, conversational instructions tend to perform better than overly scripted ones.
