Overview
Your LinkedIn Outbound Agent can generate a unique, AI-personalized message for each lead based on their profile and role, instead of sending one static message to everyone. This is called Dynamic messaging. This guide walks through turning it on, writing effective instructions, and updating them as your outreach evolves.
Open Outbound
From Home, click Outbound in the left navigation, and choose LinkedIn
Open the Messaging Tab
Open Preferences, then select the Messaging tab (next to Plan and Settings).
Select Dynamic Messaging Mode
Under Choose Messaging Mode, select Dynamic (Recommended). Each lead will receive a unique message generated from their profile and role, rather than a single fixed template. Manual mode is still available if your team needs every lead to receive identical, pre-approved copy, but Dynamic is the default for most outreach.
Open Dynamic Messaging Instructions
Click Update Dynamic Messaging to open the instructions field.
Write Your Instructions
Enter the instructions the AI should follow: tone, key talking points, what to emphasize for your audience, or anything specific you want reflected in every message. These instructions guide how the AI personalizes each message, so be as clear and specific as possible.
For example:
“Make the messaging more casual and friendly.”
“Use a friendly, casual, and conversational tone.”
“Keep the tone warm, casual, and approachable.”
Regenerate Your Messaging
Submit your instructions to regenerate messaging. New instructions stack on top of previous ones instead of only the latest one applying, so you can layer refinements over time without losing earlier guidance. Regeneration also updates every affected lead, not just a partial subset.
Save Your Changes
Click Save Changes at the top of the page to apply your updates.
Confirm Your Changes Applied
After you submit, a prompt lets you know the update is processing and that you'll receive an email once it's fully applied across all leads, hit save. When that email arrives, your regeneration is complete, and you don't have to guess whether the changes took effect.
Confirmation email would look like this
Best Practices
Be specific in your instructions. Vague guidance produces vague personalization.
Keep in mind instructions stack, so avoid adding conflicting guidance over time; review earlier instructions before adding new ones.
Iterate based on how leads respond, refining instructions as you learn what resonates.
Wait for the confirmation email before assuming a regeneration has taken effect across all leads.
